Build Up Green Spaces (BUGS) is a program designed by Build Up SMC to advance climate resiliency in early care and learning environments. Our flagship effort is the nation’s first county-level Climate Action Plan focused on child care facilities and early childhood — a big step toward healthier and safer spaces.

We hope you join us to launch this important plan and gather with leaders from early childhood education, sustainability, public health, and local government to reimagine childcare facilities as frontline climate resilience spaces.

OVERVIEW

Hear keynote insights from Dr. Lisa Patel, Executive Director of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health at Stanford School of Medicine, and engage in an interactive morning of panel and table discussions connecting climate realities to the settings where young children learn and grow.

  • Deepen understanding of how climate impacts children and child care facilities

  • Rethink child care facilities as frontline spaces for climate resilience
